TL;DR at the bottom
So I subscribed to this sub about a month ago, back when I was having a hard time trying to find happiness. I'm not depressed by any means, just felt kind of empty inside. And as much as I hate to admit it, I always veiwed that the answer to fixing this happiness was to just simply "Get in a relationship". I mean, hell, that's how most of society had been painting the answer out for me, always potraying it as "You aren't happy until you find yourself a woman to be with", not just in media, but by most of the people around me. And you know what, I really believed it.I understand that I'm not a chad. Do I think that i'm ugly? no, if anything, i'm just a little overweight. But i can't even say that adds a factor to all of this online dating BS that i've been trying to pursue along with meeting people IRL, when they will stop talking to you less then a day later for most of the time nothing, then see them bitch on social media about it later (In this case where the main craze is to talk to people pre-dominantly on Snapchat, So i would see it on their stories). And hell, that's even if they responded at all.
It's just really sucked, cause theres been a few times that I actually got really close with some of these girls. Make me feel like that they actually cared about me. Well, as you can imagine, that didn't go so well. And after so long of repeating this stupid cycle, it really started to get to me.
But you guys have been a great help. I know that this will put people off, but i've recently been practicing LaVeyan Satanism, which strongly advocates against placing your trust and belief into another being, but into yourself, and knowledge, something that this sub has really helped me see. Hell, just the other day, I was driving back home from work in my 97 f150, windows rolled down, smoking a cigarette with the cool fall air blowing through my hair. And I felt good. The best i've felt in the past couple of months, actually. Because I had spent most of the day looking at this sub, and it really helped me realise: I don't need a SO to make myself happy. Why would I place the responsibility of my happiness in someone else, when I should be proud in myself? Because that truck? That job? That gas? That was all because of me. I got all of that, not because of some girl, but because of me. I had gotten this far in life, using the knowledge that i've obtained over the years, and it's thanks to me. And you all have helped me remember that.
Thank you, bruthers.
TL;DR I realized that the societal claims of "You need a SO to be happy" Is complete bullshit thanks to you guys. Thanks.
