There should be open carry in all 50 states with absolutely zero restrictions on storing or keeping them and no permits needed at all. The only exceptions should be for convicts and people with mental problems.

As an european I envy your 2A, the amount of time and loopholes I have to jump through to be able to own a firearm is ridiculous. I personally know more people with illegal firearms than legal ones. That said I'm not sure I'm against a system of permits in which you have to prove you're competent and responsible enough to handle the type of weapon you want. We demand the same if you want to drive on the public road. The limited magazine and type of weapons is an infringement imo, proving you're capable of using them responsibly doesn't bother me. But maybe I'm overseeing something.

Yep. The problem arises when they start taxing ammunition and gun parts. They already do this with suppressors.

The people will not see this as a big enough reason to march on the government. So that’s how it end. They won’t take our guns they’ll just make it too costly.

Disagree. I don't have a problem requiring someone to undergo some training like a CCL class before buying a weapon. Too many bad gun owners allow their guns to be stolen or fall into the hands of children. I've taken CCL in a few different states due to reciprocity laws. (Or lack thereof)

My grievance is hardly the 2A itself. . . Rather, the idea of rights granted by virtue of being born in this country. There is a sense of entitlement in having free exercise of rights unearned. There is no responsibility attached to the individual. Thats one of the reasons that universal suffrage is a failure. Granting rights to folks who will vote for free shit is absurd.

The idea that women and even young people, who pay no tax, have an equal seat at the table is laughable. College kids are barely out of their parents basement and yet they can appeal to the authority of the state via ballot to see their will exercised? Dafuq!

Unless you are a property owner or legitimate tax payer, you haven’t much if any skin in the game. For those not born to a position of advantage, the military could also guarantee voter rights. Perhaps a Heinlen model? Service guarantees citizenship.

The 2A is one of the greatest ways we have for an individual to maintain his sovereignty and safety. That said, the “gun community” is rife with jackasses I wouldn’t trust to hold my coffee, let alone a firearm.

If folks fancy themselves part of “the militia”, then act the part. Dont be overweight, train regularly, and hild yourself to a standard of weapons proficiency and accuracy.

I like the idea of no restrictions on personal arms. That said, I’ve led many an Army private that I didn’t trust to carry live frags. Men who were trained in their use, but lacked common sense and maturity. If some professional soldiers are that inept, why would I want my neighbor “bubba” having frags or something more potent?

I would bever vote for or support restrictions of any kind, because its too slippery a slope to widespread bans. Still, I don’t think much of large segments of “the community”.

I agree with the basic individual rights to keep and bear arms. I am also for limiting what type of arms a person can have. I have problems with concealed carry (as a principle), and I am for open carry. I do agree that permits should be in place and that arms should be withheld from convicted felons (at least for a period) and juveniles (until age of adulthood). I also think cities that have banned handguns have outright been unconstitutional and that the process to obtain permits takes way too long; after all, this is one of our basic rights, and any good standing citizen should be able to acquire arms expediently. It is not my fault that states and the federal government do not have better integrated electronic systems in place to expedite the process.

Taking this to an extreme but still in context, none of us should have an individual right to own an active tank or nukes (both arms). But what should that limit be, and at this point in our history how can we as a people defend ourselves from tyrannical rule and threats with all of the technological advances and power in weaponry?

tl;dr I think we have a fascinating history as Americans, and I wish more of us owned arms and spent the time to properly train our society on how to safely store and use them. There are many reasons our founding fathers deliberately enacted these provisions in the Constitution and Amendments. From what I have read and I am definitely no historian or lawyer, the history and interpretation of the Constitution and 2nd amendment is definitely worth some personal study for anyone interested.

You need a gov issued permit because you’re gun has to be traceable Incase it’s used in a crime hence the serial number. I’m pro 2nd amendment but this free for all kind of state which everyone can buy a gun and carry everywhere like candy isn’t the way to go about protecting the our right to bear arms.
