Women want to trade their affection for attention, favors, and resources. Unsurprisingly, when they become legally entitled to resources they are less affectionate.

Darius gets some things right, but he gets this one completely wrong. Giving "pussy up" won't earn commitment and should not earn it. It's not worth much of anything.

If it did, players wouldn't exist, because they get it plenty, but wisely, don't commit. The old idea was to NOT "give the pussy up" in the first place, to anybody else that is.

What commitment should require, is everyone involved upholding their end of a fair bargain. This can be done the foolish way (through trust) or the pragmatic way (through inspection and enforcement) or the optimal way (limited trust, but inspect anyway).

Commitment is at best a necessary evil anyway. Ideally you only want to buy and sell discrete units of anything through instantly resolved transactions. Either party can then end the relation, at any time, without causing damage and without fuss. The longer the time frame, the greater the chance of either honest failure or betrayal.

Men are gatekeepers to exactly nothing after getting married. And women don't care about commitment, they care about resources, and those are generated by men but taken away by society and given to women.

There is no gate anymore once you commit. Your stuff and your freedom are up for grasps the moment you do.
