I get it.

If you're famous it's not worth the risk of having your actions misconstrued as sexually aggressive.

Asking, "Do you mind if I put my hand on your back for the photo?" comes off kind of wierd and parinoid. It makes more sense just to do hover hands and avoid the whole issue.
