In a sober way of approaching this, when people are gone we should let them go gracefully. Not much beyond that to be done, rationally. Waiting in vain, it's moving but I've risen above it. It's an emotion based state not a solution. I've lost a family member this way, so I'm not talking about something I didn't experience personally. I had to embrace future without someone I loved, otherwise the feeling of loss would destroy me.

The most hurtful part is the dog hoping his owner comes back someday. Hoping everyday that he'll see him again. Waiting, all day and night. Who knows the pain this little guy felt for his owner? Maybe his ghost came to him at night? At least now they're both in a better place.

We must study dogs if we want to become more loving. The only thing in the world that dog wanted was to be with its best friend. When I was a kid my best friend moved away and I never felt something so painful. I hope you all are doing okay in this unforgiving world.

There are tons of stories (many well documented) of a dog's loyalty.

From waiting for years at a specific spot until their death, guarding their owner's grave, to traveling hundreds of miles (and even swimming to an island!!!) in order to be reunited with their loved one, dogs show a loyalty that very, very few people can ever hope to match.
