There are reasons why men commit 80% of all suicides. One of them is that men are usually much, much later diagnosed with depression than women, if at all and if they are diagnosed then they get less help much later.

Also, the double standards here are especially amazing. You can read everywhere that depression in woman are on the increase, but let's be honest... If a woman says "I am lonely and depressed." then she usually means that the Chad of her choice did not talk to her, while she is still very well connected within a network of friends.

If a man says "I am lonely and depressed." then this usually means he has not talked to anyone outside work in four weeks.

I should know, I am suffering from depression and it is fucking hard to get help as a man.

I think nowadays people (mostly girls, probably) confuse temporary sadness -> with depression.

If you get stopped by every light on the way to work, Chad didn’t text you, and work was a bunch of meetings, you might be sad. You might be stressed. Both legitimate feelings. But you aren’t objectively depressed. And girls feel more comfortable posting about their feelings and reaching out to others to make others aware of their struggles.And hey, it’s fun to play a victim who’s “fought” their way through a difficult time.

It breaks my fucking heart to see men close to me struggle with mental illness and I don’t even find out until drastic measures are taken.

People do it with anxiety as well, both men and women. Had a guy tell me he suffers from anxiety even though he's engaged, has two kids, a large social circle of friends, and has no problem talking to everyone. Meanwhile I take days to psych myself up just to go shopping. It takes me months just to get a haircut.

Saw this white girl yesterday on the internet making a video "calling out the haters" because they said she wasn't black. Her excuse was "I never said I was full black, one of my parents is, so fuck you I'm black". She was in the comments shitting on everyone who questioned her.

I asked her for a photo or any kind of proof. Make a video with your black parent. Or just a photo of you two together. Just something that will make all your haters shut up.

I was blocked almost immediately. Just goes to show how far women will go for those sweet victim points.

I believe the depression/BPD thing is a way of removing responsibility for negative actions. You're not held to account for your actions if you're not of sound mind so the easiest thing to do is claim that you're suffering from mental illness.

Depression is harsh. A solution for it is to toughen up. People used to say back in the day to "man up" . It can be challenging to re-wire our own brain through best practices (routine, diet, exercise, etc), but it is possible. Like so many people, I have done it, and learned much in the process.

The amount of people, especially women but men too, who say they are "depressed" really mean "I'm too lazy to change my life into what I want it to be" is at an all-time high. It's astounding how little effort people want to put in, and would rather blame a disorder they googled. It's an insult to people who legitimately battle with these things.
