That’s the fucked up part about women and societal expectations. Buying dinner isn’t really about buying sex, it’s about showing that you’re investing and that their time is valuable to you. If they weren’t interested or not looking for a relationship, they shouldn’t accept the date. Instead they look at it as a free meal and a wallet biopsy.

I'm all for putting women in their place but if you go on dates I hope you're willing to eat the cost of a frappuccino, a croissant, a movie ticket, or a mixed drink to hopefully paint her face later. I absolutely refuse to pay when I go out with women. Most get super offended by it, some say they understand (which I highly doubt they truly do). I make good money and can easily afford to pay for dates, but it's the principal of it. Why the hell is it solely my responsibility to pay for dates and to take on the responsibilities of what it takes to maintain a healthy relationship? Nope. 50/50 or I'm out. I make that very clear from the get go and continue to remind throughout.

I did this with my ex wife. She was cool with it at first, but slowly began to expect me to do all the major heavy lifting in the relationship. Once she quit her job, refused to get another and began to drink too much and get verbally and physically abusive, I kicked her ass to the curb. She begged and begged for me to take her back. I did not. Thank God we we were only married for a little over a year and didn't have kids together. I divorced her, learned and never looked back. She continues to try and contact me to this very day. I ignore her.

Again, gentlemen, 50/50 or drop kick her ass to the curb. Read Dr. Warren Farrell's books(especially, the Myth of Male Power). I subscribe to his line of thinking. The man is a genius and is spot on.

The final straw for me with this whole dating thing in my 30s now is the inequality on who pays for dates.

I went on 3 dates with a girl I got set up with last year I paid for all 3, coming up to $200. Fuck that noise.

Bought myself a new tv and a guitar since then.

I went out with a guy once who INSISTED on paying. I usually pay because I DON'T like it when it comes with the expectation of sex, which it often does. He was really aggressive about it and at the end we split the bill. Needless to say there wasn't a second date.

I do agree that there are still quite a few women who expect men to pay. But there are also a lot of men who insist on paying to "be a perfect gentlemen" or whatever. They feel robbed of their masculinity if the woman pays. Not in all cases, obviously, but it happens.

So yeah, it's definitely a man-woman problem, not a woman-problem.

I like how payment for meals is some weird subcontext for "owing sexual favors". A girl can pay for another girl and it's just being a nice person, you can pay for a group and you're a generous friend, you can pay for your family and of course nothing sexual is even considered.. but if you are paying for a GIRL oh boy.
