I was heavily misinformed when I was a kid, my parents split in '96. My dad's gone now but things keep unravelling every year as I learn more and more about what happened. Its interesting how mothers can cause their children to believe something untrue about their fathers. I'm 31 now & my mother's stopped asking me why I don't have a girlfriend.

*sigh, ok, first off I was raised by my dad, there was no messy divorce with child support issues and property splitting, she figured we'd have a better shot at life if my dad raised us, we saw her on weekends and school holidays. She never lied to me but just didn't tell me the real reason why they separated with my dad. She thought she deserved better than being a home maker or wife & that my dad was too conservative and "safe". My dad started dating other women soon after because he's smv shot up over the years and she never remarried. I was a kid at the time so to me it looked like my dad had kicked her out so he could be with other women and she knew this is what I thought but never told me what really happened. Comprendé?

This meme hits me hard. It hurts... Lost my daughter to the courts. My ex left after the down turn hit the oil patch in Canada and took her. When the big "cash" wasn't coming in she decided she could do better. She is now with an unemployed driller that beats the shit out of her. My girl is 6 years old and still keeps in touch with me through Messenger and cries everyday. Taking that "woman" down. Working 2 jobs to pay for a good lawyer to get my sweet little girl back and away from that bullshit.

Haven't seen my dad since I was a kid. Thought he didn't care or just wasn't a good person. Today, I don't know where he is or if he's even still alive but I wonder if things would have been different between us had I known the things I know now back then.
During the few times a year I got to see him, maybe I would have been grateful and tried to connect with him. Or hugged him and smiled instead of being indifferent and disinterested. I could have been a better son to him.
