6 years of school, working my ass off on a specialized degree. Nearly two years of technical training, followed by a decade of building myself up in my industry. Now I'm responsible for a significant budget and a lot of people.

Now, I don't begrudge this kind of money for celebrities. They play a high-risk / high-reward game. Hollywood is littered with servers who have perfect teeth and broken dreams of making it big. The 2% who make it deserve it because they ran the risk of joining all the ones who didn't. I took the safer route of a 'normal' career, knowing that there would be a lot more work with less reward.

But... this isn't risking everything for a shot at stardom. This is curating your good(ish) looks well enough to attract attention and pandering to the needs of the most desperate among us.

It is a sad state of affairs that our society rewards this so well. I understand it. I don't have to like it.
