Ah Yellowstone, the giant pulsing pimple on the face of teenage America. Everyone knows it will pop eventually and they just hope its juices don't fly thier way, or into thier soup.

It’s expected to map over the entire contiguous US from what I’ve read.

We could try to vent the gas pressure by drilling horizontally from many miles away. There would be less risk of blowing out the drill holes and causing an eruption that way.

I took a sixth month solo road trip last year and spent three days in Yellowstone Definitely beautiful and worth visiting.

Was thinking about doing a solo road trip. Any tips? How’d you like yours and how far did you go?

Someone should lidar Yellowstone completely and make it an open world video game map.

Watch out for bear.
Did you happen to make it out to Devil's Tower? As much as I enjoyed Yellowstone many years ago, there's just something about Devil's Tower. Maybe it's the aliens.

Oh yeah bear spray is a must in Yellowstone, especially if you go off the beaten path. A .45 would be even better, but I digress. I didn't go to Devil's Tower on this trip, but I did see it a few years ago. And yeah it's got a special feel to it.

Yep. But the season for Yellowstone is very short. It snows well into May, sometimes even June. And then starts up again as early as September. So your choice is go when the weather is good and deal with the crowds or go when it's cold and be alone.
But if you're willing to go off the beaten path a little, you can easily get away from the crowds. The park is enormous and 90% of people are clustered around maybe 10-20% of the park.
