I have been binge watching season one "Alone" on the History Channel. I'll leave it the reader to look up the premise of the show.

Trying to survive by one's self isn't easy, that is a given. But what has been the biggest take away from this show is what causes most of these men (all of the contestants are men) to quit is missing their wives and children. Even after two days some of these men are actually crying. Have these men ever lived alone? I am reluctant to call these men pussies so I will call them "emotionally co-dependent." It is a weakness that I had never thought much about.

Being on the social-outcast spectrum (I will not discuss this) has taught me to be self reliant. I don't rely on women. I never count on friends though I do appreciate them. You may think it's all about money, but being dependent on others for emotional support will do you in if you are not prepared to be alone. If you are emotionally co-dependent on family or friends you should practice being alone. Take a hermit vacation and evaluate your situation. You can always disguise it as a religious exercise if you need to justify it.
