I'm in the US. We hear about cases similar to that here, too -- harmless little actions, followed by false allegations and big negative consequences for the man. It's a shame, and it's understandable that men are pulling back and being wary of interacting with women.

The only thing I'd add is that while it's good to consider these risks, we usually get an exaggerated picture of the actual real-world risk by watching news media. For instance, if you watch the news sometimes, you'd come away thinking killing and rape are happening all the time, and maybe it's better off to just stay in your apartment where it's safe. But really, the actual crime rate is not that high. It's just that you read about the terrible examples in the media, and so you get an exaggerated picture of how dangerous it is.

I'm not saying there aren't risks and you shouldn't protect yourself. I'm just saying we can get an exaggerated view of how likely these situations are, just because of the nature of the media. It gives you the sense that they are more common than they really are.
