The problem is that, there is no law to punish false accusers..
Many times judges have to use their discretion and existing guidelines (for perjury) to punish the culprits..

₹20k is probably the maximum punishment the lower court can give for such crimes..

The biased laws are the problem, not the judge here.

one of my ex-friends did this. I was the only one who knew it was fake. I turned her in immediately, and turned the proof that I had [photos that we took together, that showed that she was with me the day of the alleged attack], and this guys name got slandered in the local media and all over school [he had just turned 18 a few weeks before the incident], and the same media outlets that slandered him when he was arrested didnt even cover it when he was shown as not guilty.

I made sure that everyone whom we knew found out about it, and now she moved to Australia because of her parents shame. The same parents that were ready to beat him up without proof.

Even though everyone knows that he is innocent, there are still some people who believe her.

And aside from that, his entire life is ruined. He lost all his college admissions in light of the controversy, and the police beat him up when he was initially arrested, claiming that he was "trying to escape", even though there is no possibility of escaping.

I suspect that would have happened in many countries. Very often if anyone makes any accusation against anyone, the police will make an arrest because they risk criticism if they don't, even if the case is ludicrous. If there's very obviously not enough evidence to charge, that person should be released reasonably quickly, although the reputational damage is done. I don't necessarily blame individual police officers for this, as they're not necessarily the masters of their own destiny, but the resistance to it has to come from some point/

In a wider sense there is a tendency for the police in many developed countries to arrest people and hold them overnight for any reason or none as an easy way to punish anyone who irritates them, which is a rather broader issue.
