2 kids (m10, f8). Kids living with their mother in another country, almost 500km away. i see them for 1 day every month. Seperated for ~5 years now.

i want to move to a 2 room condo. i am still living in the family house alone, i dont need that much space, it is expensive, reminds me every day that i am missing my kids. Everyone (family, friends) tells me i cannot do that, because "maybe" one day kids will want to move to me. In my honest opinion they will never move to me. they have their life somewhere else, they go to school there, they have their friends there. in a few years they will have first bf/gf. they aren't unhappy with their mother. I am keeping up these high costs for a dream which will never come true ? How you guys see this ? Maybe one of you had a similiar situation ?
