By not marrying you're at much lower risk than with a government contract, assuming you don't live somewhere retarded like Canada, where they award women (always women) benefits from you having dated her,.

However MGTOW is not just about a marriage contract.

The same question could be phrased, "Why not just never leave your parents house and live there?"

And for some people, that might be ok in a big enough estate, but for most people, it means you have no freedom. No autonomy. No adult decisions you make.

Just offloading that onto someone else and sitting around.

When you take a woman into your home, the theory is all these wonderful women contribute something. Maybe your rent is in half, or expenses lowered. Maybe you split chores.

And again, if you're with some magical woman then sure, that might happen. But it doesn't for the majority of people. Your expenses double, you income is halved and now you're worse off financially.

Sure, if you're both doctors making $250k a year, and your rent is only $1000 a month, then that might work out. Unfortunately reality very seldom works that way.

The reality for a lot of men is you're taking on a liability, a child, and their debts and expenses, for little in return.

You will always end up paying for a lifestyle far in excess than what's actually necessary for a single guy. You'll have to live places you may not want to live, not be able to pursue hobbies, run your own life, you're now a couple, and "we" have to make decisions.

So your life is changed, and for what benefit? What are you actually getting?

In some countries after cohabitating a specific period of time legal obligations appear, just like in marriage.
Control and surveillance. You give up your freedom in exchange for bill sharing. Not worth it.

Even if you remove the laws that treat you as married if you cohabitate you are still just opening yourself up to being used and abused. Here is the thing, you can go in insisting you want to be equal, but then you pick up something or there's a debate about another thing and the next thing you know you're doing more for her than she is for you.

When it comes time to decorate your home you end up with a man cave if you're lucky and the rest is the 'mutually agreed upon space you decorated together' except it was designed entirely by the woman with you just weighing in. Everyone wants to think that they are 'above' all of these things, but its just not true, no one is, you'd have to be a perfectly logical and emotionless person to not get taken advantage of in some way in this situation.

and beyond all that when you cohabitate with a woman you are surrendering some level of control. When you live together you are making this person an important part of your life, and you need to work to keep them in your life. sure, there is the threat that you can move out, but at the end of the day what is easier, moving out and breaking up with the girl, or letting her have curtains you don't like? Therein lies the problem, over the course of years men lose everything because its easier to give up one tiny thing to a woman each day than to make her angry at you. Women don't mind if you're angry at them, but men don't want a nagging wife, they want her to be happy, and they don't want to go through the exhausting process of breaking up and moving out.

So you let your wife have her curtains. then the next day you get a poodle instead of a gold retriever. Then the next day its hard wood floors even though you have your bare feet on a dirty cold floor. Then the next its her house but you get a 'man cave', but even then she insults and berates you about having a man cave and spending too much time there instead of watching Sabrina the teenage witch taking down the patriarchy with her on netflix.

Its your life man, do what you want, but if you seriously think that you'll maintain control over a home without the relationship going south you don't know whats coming.

All a woman has to do if she wants to steal everything from you and make you homeless is make one phone call. She accuses you of rape or abuse, and you end up in jail with no access to your things. By the time you get out, all your shit will be gone. That's assuming you get out.

There are lots of other reasons to avoid cohabitation, but that's probably the worst case scenario and why I would never do it.

In AUstralia at least, 6 months to 2 years you will end up being defacto married as if you were married anyway. Even stuff like having a toothbrush over at the other's place can count to establish this.

if your live in girlfriend gets mad with you, she can walk into a door, call the cops, claim you punched her. you are going to jail. my live in girlfriend put holes in my condoms and look a miracle baby. imagine 20% of your gross pay flushed down the toilet. if she leaves, now you have all the expenses. if she loses her job, you have all the expenses. if she leaves, how do you divide the possessions? you want to fight over a couch you two picked out together? like coming and going when you want without telling anyone? kiss that good bye.

In theory yes but all it takes is for her to change her mind. Courts are inclined to womans interest in most cases. Id rather take the few extra expenses than the marriage benefits

Some places if she lives with you for a certain amount of time.. she's legally entitled to some or half your earnings.

So say she moves in.. and after 3 years.. you invent an amazing app that makes you rich on the same day she cheats on you.

She will get half that sweet sweet app money because the law says so.

Then there are the false DV accusations for when she feels like hurting you.

Because in many jurisdictions, cohabitating for (X) period of time, (some as little as 60 days, others 10 years or more), makes you liable for the same pitfalls as divorce. Yup. Alimony, in some cases CHILD SUPPORT as well.

Add onto that that it isnt long before you end up paying for the whole thing while she is out enjoying life.

Its risky, and not worth it.

In Canada or at least where I live, if you move in with a girl after 6 months or 8, I forgot, but if you break up YOU HAVE TO PAY HER ALIMONY. WTF why should I?
