It's been over a month since I have seen or spoken to my son. I could detail all the things his mom has done to make him hate me, but the list is long and I am tired. He is 15 and I filed for divorce just over 6 years ago.

Technically, I have 50/50 custody, but his recent aggro and hate got to the point where I told him he can apologize for calling me a nazi or stay at his moms.

And there he stays. He is in counseling (not a family counselor). I met his counselor and believe they can do him a lot of good. Now I have to wait. I am taking his counselor's advice and texting him every three weeks or so to let him know that I am still around and not freezing him out. He never responds.

I know other divorced dads here besides me have dealt with an ex alienating and lying to their child about them. How do you handle it? I rarely defend myself when he is hurling her lies and accusations, because it's just a trap to escalate his anger. And it's a shitty thing to ask your kid to judge their parent's failed marriage.

I guess I would just really like any advice on dealing with the separation. It's just me and the cat now. His hate drove the girlfriend out six months ago. (Her words, not mine.)

I have had to back off drinking, because I saw myself developing a habit. I have mobility issues that limit my ability to hit the gym. I am a life long gamer, but even my favorites can't hold my attention long. I simply work, drive, stay in my apartment.

I am at peace with dying alone and without grandkids...but I am not at peace with losing my relationship with my only child.

Thanks if your read this far. I appreciate it.
