Hi all,

Welcome back to the December edition of the sub’s art challenge. The new year is approaching, and while nobody knows what 2022 has in store for each of us, the new year gives us the opportunity to open our minds and refresh our expectations for the future. For me, I am greatly looking forward to spending more time with friends and family and improving upon the new skills I’ve picked up during 2021. A lot of us will be tempted to make grand new year resolutions, but I think it’s important to remember that any plan, no matter how great, is made up of smaller and much more achievable goals. Let me know what you want to achieve in the new year.

On the topic of plans, I figured now is a good time to review the art challenge itself. I’m open to any suggestions which could encourage more participation. Alternatively, I am fine with ending the challenge if there’s no more interest in continuing it. I hope you all find your own way of communicating what you’re going through as people.

The Challenge

The purpose of this monthly challenge is to encourage users to practice expressing emotionally what is conventionally difficult to express, especially for men. Perhaps we can understand one another better if we choose to communicate a different way.

To reiterate the rules, a monthly theme is provided and users are encouraged to post a submission that expresses what thoughts and emotions come to mind regarding the theme. Examples of submissions include but are not limited to:

- Sketches,

- songs,

- paintings,

- poetry,

- short stories,

- a set of jokes,

- photography,

- digital art,

- dance to a song, and

- crafts

Please refrain from posting hateful or pornographic content in your submission, and ensure it falls within the general rules of the sub. You may create your own post for your submission so long as the Art tag is added. The only other limit is your imagination.

This month's theme: bring your own!

Submission are due January 13.
