A boys life

I appreciate the submission. But I dislike this poem for two reasons.

First, it reminds me too much of Feminists who celebrate Empowerful Goddess Wymyn with poetry and praise of their "inherently awesome" gender. I don't want to celebrate boys and men as being inherently awesome. Some people are assholes. Some are saints. Some sacrifice for others, some use others for their own gain. I want society and the laws that rule it to treat everyone as an equal individual, based on their actions and character, not any characteristic they were born into.

Second, this reinforces as "positive" the male role of selfless provider who is expected to work, bleed, and die for others, especially women. Men should not be expected to give any more or any differently than anyone else.

I think part of this was to point out how rough boys have it, which is good. It's mostly this line:

A Boy is the most beautiful part of Gods creation..

That irks me - it explains away our sacrifice as being a natural part of our wonderful selfless nature.

A boy is the most likely group to commit suicide, be bullied or physically attacked.

A boy is verbally attacked in school by the teachers as the norm.

A boy is likely to be genitally mutilated as the norm.
