The bias towards the mother is so great that strong evidence is required to overcome it. No mother needs this type of proof because she is assumed by the court to be the primary caregiver.

A father with no job is considered an unfit parent. Then when he gets a job, he doesn't have enough time to spend with the kid, so hes still unfit.

In order for the father to get custody of the child the mother has to be extremely fucked up, either crazy, on drugs, or physically incapable of caring properly for the child.

What will happen is this will be the fast track to getting the laws changed when it's women who are principally fucked over by the way things currently are in family court land. It's all about the money, and it's in the courts best interest to make sure the higher earning spouse is the one booted out of the kid's life so that they get slapped with onerous child support obligations. The more money they transfer, the more federal funds they get deposited into their accounts.

Honestly, yes that is normally the case. Many are against it on he basis of principle here. It is an outdated legal concept mostly.

In cases like what you're describing, the man usually gets custody. However, the rate for supports are usually much lower.

2) You are speaking of a FUCKING SMALL MINORITY. 82% of mothers receive custody after divorce; 67% of children stay with mothers at first separation of parents [before they even involve the state system.] 97% of alimony paid is from men to women.

Alimony is at some times given to men yes. It is so statistically insignificant as to be a non issue.

To your own specific point of "high paying corporate mom, and stay at home dad," again, this is a statistically non significant issue. The mother in this case should, of course, receive equal due process in the laws of her state, and he should receive equal treatment as the mothers that get alimony in his state, but in all honesty, you are talking about less than 1% [probably less than .05%,] of marriages in this country.

I have custody of my son, get no child support, and instead have to pay alimony. Her support obligation essentially only mitigates the money I have to pay her. I want to tell her "Hey, come over for dinner. I won't set a place for you, instead you can just take the food right from our son's mouth."

Stay at home dad gets less than a stay at home wife on average, but does a lot better than a working dad.
