Most feminists now give those of the past a horrible, nasty name. A lot of the original feminists had some good ideas and were well-intentioned in fighting for true equality. Many feminists nowadays are just assholes, fighting for superior rights for women instead of equal rights/opportunities for everyone. As I've said before, I did consider myself a feminist in college, because it seemed as though the term referred to equality for everyone (we even had men's rights literature in gender studies classes, which were considered "feminist"- go figure). I've since learned better by living in the real world.

We have to stand up for ourselves, because no one else will!

If you mean men specifically, sorry, because I'm here, too! I'll try to help as much as I can, much to the dismay of many in r/mensrights who don't think that women can or should participate in the masculine revolution that is beginning. Do you have an opinion on that?

I couldn't agree with you more. Obviously, skinjeans (who has been a user for all of 54 minutes at this point) is major troll. You're also totally correct in that there are good and bad apples in any and every group and that gender has nothing to do with it. r/mensrights seems to have a different view sometimes, but that's because the whole subreddit is designed to point out the injustices imposed upon men. Of course it'll be skewed and I find nothing wrong with that, other than the blatant woman-hating that happens occasionally. Some of us are okay, promise!

As for "feminists", I have to also agree. I've said this a few times before; but in college, I did consider myself a feminist. It seemed more like an "equalist" title at the time, seeing as the professors brought up both women's and men's rights in our gender studies courses. When arguing for equality, the term feminist was usually used. Since then, I've tried to use a different term, "equalist" now. The label "feminist" has a horrible connotation now (and rightly) and the movement itself, while (I believe) it was important when it began (although many will disagree; that's fine), it has morphed into a sex-driven power struggle. (Think my sentence is run-on enough? Ha!) No sex should have more rights or opportunities than the other.

I hope to help men's rights advocates as much as I can, as a woman. As strange as it may seem, I think that someone from the opposite side may come across as more believable than one who would benefit from it. What do you think?

You're totally correct. When a certain group of people (disenfranchised, used, whatever) fight against the very same system that has done that to them, they gain very little leverage by fighting alone. Much like the whites you mentioned, women have nothing to gain (and much to lose, in the cases of many self-centered bitches), but also much to gain because their men are happier and more equal. There should be no argument, other than from the standpoint of self-promotion. Thank you for applauding me and I hope that the movement can go forward with the help of the other gender. I just hope that the majority of men stop insulting the women who want to help. Sometimes, creating equality and virtue in the world are more than enough for many to fight for equality. I'm just sorry that more aren't of the same mind.

As for your statements about the stages of feminism, I totally agree. I have nothing more to add to that, so thank you. I do think that some good things have come from the later waves (the men's rights movement, obviously, is more appreciated because of the later women's rights movements, no matter what bitter men on here say. Precedent in a similar matter does help.)

Yes, I do think that women fighting for your rights does make your/our position more believable/viable. I don't think it's sad, though- many groups have revolted and gotten very little recognition until others, of the opposite group, added their participation. Maybe it shouldn't be that way, but it is. Also, women shouldn't be excluded because of their genitalia- some of us believe the exact same things and fight for the same things. It is truly sexist to exclude us from a revolution because of our vaginas. No one should see a group as being suspicious for advocating for themselves, but with no help from anyone else, they do appear to be selfish and taking advantage, no matter how righteous their cause is.
