I am a 27 year old father, my son is 5. His mother has done everything she could possibly do from the day she was born to keep me out of his life. When he was born, she didn't even let me know until after she had named him, and of course forgotten to put me on the birth certificate. When he was 2 she moved out of state, to Indiana, and I didn't get to see him for over a month. I got a lawyer in Indiana and petitioned to establish some custodial agreement with her so I could make sure I had time with him. My lawyer didn't really get much out of it, I get 1 week a month, and the general rights that a father gets, but she got sole physical and legal custody of him. In December of last year, she decided to move to Illinois, took him, and hasn't provided me with a current address (the move in itself was a violation of custody, she was required to give me and the state 60 days written notice) and only sent me a letter stating that she was going to move after she had already moved. She has kept him from me several months (I'm required at least 1 week a month from Sunday - Sunday) and her most recent action was to report me to CPS for parental neglect because my wife's son (who is 7 months older than him) supposedly touched his penis 2 years ago. He started wetting the bed again when he was with her, and she decided to take him to a counselor, and push him into all of this mental health stuff at 5 years of age. They sent a CPS worker to my house to do a home visit, interviewed me about everything, deemed my house a great environment for children. We have separate bedrooms for the kids, separate beds and everything. The CPS worker is coming back this week to interview my wife, and her son about this before she can close the case. My son came to visit me this past friday, and she has told my parents that he is not to stay with me without their supervision, and they told me that they just want to "keep the peace", and that we should just go along with her wishes at this time so that we can continue to see him. Well, if I don't see him for one week a month, she is in violation of our custody agreement anyway, and that only goes in my favor.
-- Anyway, that is my situation. Here is what I want to do -- I want to get a new lawyer to file a change to our custody agreement. I am calling a lawyers office tomorrow, scheduling a meeting with him sometime this week. I want full custody of my son. I want him to know that his dad loves him, and that I would do anything I have to do to keep him happy.
I need to know if any of you know of a group or organization that I can go to for help, lawyers are expensive. If there is some sort of legal team that fights for mens rights, I need to know where I can turn, I've tried everything I know, and I am running out of options. I have tried to save money, and every time I have any saved up, his mom calls me and says she needs extra money for whatever, and because I want the best for my son, I give it to her. I don't want him riding in a vehicle with bad tires, etc.
I have nowhere else to turn to, please, someone help me. I need my son.
