Privilege is rooted in the belief that white men rule the world, and have systematically designed society to be primarily beneficial to other white men. My simple question: what if the Greeks and Romans were black? Would black people then rule the world? The Greeks and Romans essentially created the foundation of modern "society," yet, while I am neither Greek nor Roman, I'm assumed to have privilege purely based on my sex and the color of my skin. Are white males assumed to be the "privileged" ones out of pure convenience, being that the large percentage of the worlds population shares the trait of white skin (even though they are ethnically diverse), so that it's easier to say that we, as a group based on epidermal similarity, are systematically oppressing them?

Is it white, American males that are the creators of the patriarchy, or is it the Greeks and Romans, as they're the ones who laid the foundation of modern society? Do we benefit from it simply because we're male?

My genetics are a combination of anglo-european (including the Irish, who were slaves in America with the black for a period of time), American Indian (who are widely considered one of the most oppressed groups in the history of America), but definitely no Greek or Roman ancestry. Why then, am I part of the problem?
