To any concerned parents that want to keep their children in their lives as much as possible, you'll have to play the game with family courts for the time being until real change can be made. Learn your rights, don't give them any reason to take your children from you, and report on their hypocrisy as loudly as possible. Don't expect real sympathy or understanding from people who make a profit off of you and your kids.

I'm assuming (just because) that the mother has the majority of custody. This father must accept the decision to stop (even though it's perfectly innocent), but he would also be completely within his rights to request the exact same behaviour from the mother. Use the mother's own weapon against her and highlight the inequality that the lawyer is enforcing.
