It's been two days since the news of allegations of sexual assault against Andrew Callaghan (Channel 5/All Gas No Breaks) have been widely publicized. And no one here has said a word, which is surprising.

This is a thorny issue--sounds like Callaghan should have known when to stop trying to get laid, but here are the facts, which I'm summarizing from this summary:

-In 2021, Callaghan and this thing had sex. She consented, but only after he asked a lot of times. They were drunk.

She appears to have buyer's remorse.

She waits until he is popular, until HBO releases his documentary, and then decides that--in her own words--she doesn't like seeing an "abuser" platformed.

-In 2019, this girl and Callaghan had sex numerous times, apparently always while super drunk. She decided to stop having sex with him, told him, and he asked her to have dinner to talk.

After dinner, taking him home, she has to kick him out of her car (literally apparently), because he tries to hook up with her in her car, and she obviously doesnt want to and pushes him off.

There are a bunch of other unverified posts and comments talking about... Callaghan in high school. And rumors upon rumors.

Is there malfeasance? Yes. Again, he should have known when to stop.

But we also have one circumstance where explicit consent was given (although yes doesn't mean yes, apparently), and another where a female successfully stood up for herself after previously having had sex multiple times (a yes can become a no, but it's understandable how that can be confusing).

This is one of the more controversial statements I'm ever going to make: These girls aren't victims.

What are they a victim of? Sounds like one girl had bad sex and the other girl had to deal with getting rid of him after he begged her for sex.

Most of the comments I've read are trying to paint him as a serial rapist, which do not appear to be the case from what we know.

The real conversation is this, and it's been one that we've been having for decades: Is it okay for men to have sex with women by getting girls drunk?

Answer: Yes. This has been happening since the dawn of time, and there's a difference between having some drinks to help relax tension and getting a girl blackout drunk to have sex with her while she's unconscious.

Sounds like Callaghan didn't actually do the latter.

Ironically there are likely quite a few people complaining about Callaghan's behavior that wouldn't even exist if not for the combination of alcohol and bad sex.

So, sure--we can talk about how it's not okay to try to wear girls down by repeatedly asking them to have sex, but treating that situation as though it is the equivalent of a Chris Brown situation is not constructive, and undermines the severity of the actual harm of actual rape victims.

People are saying Callaghan is an "[u]tterly, vile monster," and using this as a platform to talk about #allmen.

My response is--if you are making a villain out of Callaghan, you don't know what an actual villain is.

What Callaghan did fits with a lot of very common party behavior of dudes in their 20s, and I don't think he should be crucified because of it.

With all of that said, feel free to say what you think is wrong/not wrong about what Callaghan did.

Have any of you had any experiences like this?

Edit: Also, Callaghan has checked himself into a psych ward.

People are saying that he got what he deserved, apparently. So we have an issue of mental health treatment that arises with this as well, where men's mental health and well-being is dismissed.
