This happened a mere two days after Canada's International Trade Minister went on Bill Maher's show to talk about how we shouldn't discriminate against people on the basis of their beliefs, even if those beliefs include things in direct opposition to Western free and democratic values. Instead, according to her and her boss, we should bring those people, who oppose our way of life, into Canada, and into the USA.

But apparently, the Trudeau government believes that it's perfectly fine to discriminate on sex. We already knew this from the gender test for cabinet (which the International Trade Minister clearly benefited from, having only been a journalist before). But now it is clearer than ever. Men go to the back of the bus (indeed, aren't even ON it) even if they share our values, putting them at risk.

Now consider the controversy over the Syrian immigrants. The photos show mostly men of fighting age. No one cares about adult men, so a 1% chance of a hidden terrorist in the group – who might someday kill women and children – is unacceptable.

I have twice blogged on the idea of siphoning out the women and small kids from the Caliphate and leaving millions of innocent adult men to suffer and die. I don’t recall anyone complaining about leaving millions of innocent adult males to horrible suffering. In this country, any solution to a problem that involves killing millions of adult men is automatically on the table.

A brilliant political move for the dashing Trudeau, the women, who are the majority of voters will adore him even more. A smart move to increase state power as well. A few tens of thousands of women with children who will not be working will need a huge agency to disperse funds, housing and benefits. The media will play up stories of how the good women have escaped the bad men, never the stories of the women crying for their husbands, fathers or brothers. The men who are left to rot wherever will grow hateful and radicalized. An attack will come with full knowledge of the Canadian government or orchestrated by the government itself just like in Paris. The Canadian Government will need to beef up internal security forces, more involvement overseas, more weapons, more war, more money, more power. Welcome to the real world.

Weeelll - there are a whole bunch of people pretending to be Syrian refugees. I've seen it estimated that 70% are from somewhere else - I haven't checked the accuracy of this. Also that a huge majority are men. The question is: should western nations be looking at a different approach entirely - other than cramming our borders with dubious refugees forever.

But yes - it has the stink of "look how moral we are, looking after women and children".

Everyone except men - you see it often enough, yet talk to a feminist about this and they'll express the most wide-eyed innocence, claiming that women are oppressed/undervalued etc. And so the endless lying goes on.

Given how crappy their plan is, this is probably the best way to do it.

The reality is that they should slow the hell down and actually think about their actions, but Trudeau has to do his chest pumping as a new PM and decided to jump on the latest tragedy to do so.

Yes we should help the Syrian people, but not by bringing over a mass quantity of people that will not be able to support themselves. If they took their time and brought complete families over the chances are much better these people will re-settle and not live off the government for the rest of their lives.
