Speaking in a debate on International Men's Day in Westminster Hall last November, Mr Fletcher highlighted the difficulties faced by many young boys, telling MPs that a number of them were "lagging behind" at school.

Mr Fletcher told the debate there appears to be a "tiny yet very vocal minority" who want a female replacement for "every male character or good role model".

"As has been alleged rather lazily by several individuals, I did not link a Dr Who being female to crime being committed by men," he said.

"Boys need positive male role models, and that is a point that I will continue to reiterate and never apologise for making."

Hear, hear! Hold that line!

It'll end up being a minister for men, the head will be a woman; And her main focus will be dealing with toxic masculinity.

I 10/10 predict this to happen.

Seeing the current state of UK government and public I don't see this happening in a 100 years. But God bless this guy for trying at least.

What a load of pathetic nonsense. What we need is equal rights not a TV program. I want the right to not be searched by a female prison guard. I want the right to not be sentenced by a judge who has been ordered to discriminate against me because I am male. Don't expect politicians to legitimately help mens rights, the government is what implemented misandrist policy in the first place and the only thing that stands a chance of changing the misandrist system is a democratic vote for or against any and all misandrist policies, by the public of this country. That's the impression I'm getting.

the only thing that stands a chance of changing the misandrist system is a democratic vote for or against any and all misandrist policies, by the public of this country.

Public itself is just as misandrist as the government it elects.

You can never be sure of that unless you put these policies to the test of national vote.

I have faith that if the public were confronted with the truth, in clear perspective, and asked to vote for or against legal discrimination against men such as harsher sentences or discriminatory prison searches by the opposite sex, that the majority of the public would vote against these misandrist policies.

However, I have absolutely no faith that these politicians would vote by majority against such policies if asked to vote on it. Keep in mind - Daunte W protests by BLM, a male citizen was unjustly shot and killed by a female cop, many of the public protested and called for her to be punished. Arthur L-H case in England, hundreds of thousands of people signed a petition calling for the man and woman who tortured that boy to death to get longer sentences, many men and women have also protested against Guantanamo bay, these protests / petitions have something in common, a large number of the public, defending a male victim / victims from abuse by a female / abusers that are male and female, and calling for punishments for a female abuser of a male. This demonstrates to me that the public are capable of being against misandry in large numbers.

What I'm doing is calling the government's bluff, I'm confident that the majority of the public would side with equality policy instead of misandrist policy, if given the choice. I'm aware that there is misandrists in the public, but they are emboldened by those in power. People are told to accept misandrist policy, not asked to vote for or against it directly. I'm interested in seeing the outcome if the public are given a choice.

Let's look at this for example,

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1311004/Judges-ordered-mercy-women-criminals-deciding-sentences.html

And this

https://www.saunders.co.uk/news/strip-searching-women-in-prison/

https://ukhumanrightsblog.com/2013/04/04/policy-allowing-cross-gender-searches-in-prisons-not-unlawful-says-high-court/

Did the public ask for this? Was the public asked to vote for or against this? Or did the government just decide to implement it on their own accord? The answer to me is obvious, this is the government's doing, not the public's. I know this because I've never been asked to vote on these policies and that's all the research I need to know that this is not a democratically implemented policy. Did labour come and say "vote for us and we will equalise sentencing and prison searches"? If so, when did they say this? Did the conservatives say this? Did the liberal democrats? Did green party? Did anyone? The point is, what choice has the public been given? I haven't seen a choice.

I also don't want to see this voted on in a political party sense, I want a national vote on these issues alone with no strings attached. To make sure there is no coercion given to cause the public to vote in favour of misandrist policy.

For example, you could have 2 political parties, party A could say "we'll close Guantanamo bay, but we'll also restrict your gun rights". Party B could then say "we'll keep Guantanamo bay open, but we won't restrict your gun rights" party A could also say "we'll equalise prison searches and sentencing, but we'll also ban alcohol" (or something else divisive) then party B could say "we'll leave misandrist policy as it is, but we'll keep alcohol legal (or let you keep other random unrelated right)" this is not democracy, this is coercion. So none of that, instead what I want, is a direct vote, not attached to any political party, a national (and by extension global vote for policies around the world), for or against any and all misandrist and sexist policies. I'm confident that the end result would be total equal legal rights for men and women, however, leave it to the politicians or coercive "democracy" and I'm confident that misandrist policy will stay, because as far as I'm concerned, these politicians do not speak for us, they do not represent our views, and they are a case of misplaced authority. I want a direct democratic vote on these policies in order to prove that, and in order for that to be a fair and balanced vote, all prisoners must also be allowed to participate in this vote.

But HOW? How, realistically, do we reach the point where what you want happens?

[–]Alarming_Draw 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

HOW?

Fire and fury is understandable-but unless there are specific aims and targets, it is just that-fire and fury.

The OP has championed someone daring to stand up in the most public place and nail his colours to the mast-that takes bravery. Change happens SLOWLY. Change takes time. Change takes small victories mounting until they become larger ones that gather momentum.

We MUST take EVERY victory, every bit of encouragement we can get, especially when these are people in the public eye fighting against the current of toxic man hating.

I applaud the politician for taking what is a risk in our current climate, and I applaud the poster for championing it.

Steps and actions need taking, not simply sounding off angrily and saying everything is hopeless.

[–]3DemocracyActivist 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

We don't need slow changes, all of these policies can be removed as quickly as they were implemented. It's very simple - no misandrist policy. Equalise all rights between men and women. These policies were implemented quickly, they can be removed just as quickly. The root of the problem appears to be the government itself, not the public. I have already said, I'm confident that if a politician came out and demanded what I am demanding, that the majority of the public would agree with them. Where were the streets packed with protesters demanding these misandrist policies were implemented in the first place?

In 2010 I don't remember the public all getting together and saying "you know what we need? To order judges to sentence men harsher than women!"

The government was not pressured by democracy to order judges to sentence men harsher, the government implemented these policies on it's own accord. A simple public vote on the matter may be all that is required to solve all of these problems.

How is this achieved? I am not 100% sure, but I will try to help encourage a combined effort of people, organised activism, my advice is keep demanding equal rights, keep demanding a national / global vote on misandrist policy, protest / petition Guantanamo bay and any other government implemented double standard against males, do as much activism and raising awareness online and offline as you can manage and don't stop engaging in mens rights activism until the law is that men have equal rights to women without exception. If enough people demand a vote then there will be a vote. I've done my bit.

I have probably called for more rights for men in 1 post, than this politician has probably called for in his entire career. Equal rights is all that I am interested in on a mens rights basis. I am not concerned about the TV program, if I don't like what's on the TV, I can switch that off, I can't switch the law off, I can't switch misandrist policy off, so rather than changing the channel, I am trying to implement 100%, plain and simple, equal rights between men and women and I won't be satisfied with anyone who demands anything less than equal rights, equal rights is not an unreasonable or complicated demand.

A simple demand should not require slow changes or beating around the bush. If a politician came out and said "judges should be ordered to not discriminate against men, and if women are not searched by male guards then men should not be searched by female guards" what do you think would happen? Would the public call for him to be removed from parliament? Would your neighbors be driving down to London to go protest this? I highly doubt it. It is not an unfair demand, your average person isn't going to disagree with this in my experience. The government are the implementors of misandrist policy. They have no interest in removing it.

Familiarise yourself with the meaning of controlled opposition, someone who acts like they are on your side, but they're not. They're just misleading you, knowingly or unknowingly, to keep you quiet, to give you a false sense of security, to ultimately make sure, that you don't get equality.

I'm not going to blame the public for a policy passed by the government, and I'm not going to be mislead into believing that the government is going to solve the problem that it deliberately created. The root of the problem is misandrist dictatorship, and the solution - is democracy. That's how it seems to me.

If I ever see a politician consistently demand 100% equal rights between men and women, consistently criticise policy such as discriminatory searches by the opposite sex and unbalanced sentencing and demand equalisation, then I will congratulate that politician, but I will be very surprised if I ever see that happen. I'm not going to sit around waiting for parliament to give me rights, I'm going to continue to demand equal rights and encourage others to do the same. I'm not going to trust politicians unless they earn my trust. Demanding anything less than 100% equal rights between males and females, will not impress me and will not earn my trust or support.

Just want to say thanks for posting this-I wanted to but hadnt had time lately.

Its important the actions of the few mens rights supporters we have are highlighted.

I also think it worth saying that I am lifelong Labour (except when Corbyn was leader), and that despite this, I am so sick of toxic feminism and the takeover of the Left by anti male people, that I support ANY candidate or party that supports mens rights-we need to let these people know their actions are important, or they may feel lost in their campaigning.

I notice that it is USUALLY Conservative politicians that speak up for mens rights, and it is usually Labour / Green / Libs that speak up for toxic feminists. The Labour deputy leader is a loudmouth feminist, according to her own words. The worst of them? Probably another Labour one-Jess Phillips. She is infamous here for playing the victim whenever criticised for her vile, vile man hating speeches and actions....

So I call on any other Labour supporters here to have a rethink of who you support if you really care about mens rights.
