“ If we need more warfighters at a time of dire necessity, the military and representatives can make that case to the American people and elicit more volunteers. If insufficient numbers of available men volunteer, draft men. If numbers are still insufficient, broaden the pool of men for selective services to include men ages 18 to 40. Anticipating objections to drafting men with creaky knees: let them fly drones.”

Disgusting

This is why I'm hesitant to get a driver's license, I refuse to sign up for selective services, I don't care what the government says, I have no faith in our woke, pathetic, totally unfocused military leaders.

I have my driver’s license and I’m not registered. Maybe it depends on the state? I’m not sure.

I got some very negative comments but I'll say it again. Equality is a bitch. And, as we've all been trained from birth, the sexes are equal. With 90% of military jobs being non-combat, there is no reason women can't contribute with all their advanced degrees to defending their own country.

This is the woman who wrote this inane article

As a Conservative myself, I say that The Federalist, and all those other magazines can STFU.

They didn't lift a finger to fight Feminism, IMHO, and now is the time to let women experience the True Equality that Feminists have demanded.

I don't lean one way or another, but I do not want women to be drafted at all. Its a fucking liability and I don't want to die because some woman freaks out and can't cover my 6. I'm not some badass, but seriously, think about a 19yo girl in this day and age. Would you feel safe with her next to you?

[–]Frosty-Gate-8094 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

This is not the time to discuss it.
They should have thought about it when they decided that they can give women 'equal rights' as men.

Of course they can give, but equal rights come with equal responsibility. Including the responsibility to defend your nation from intruders. If the need be, with your life.

[–]ohmygoshimdrowning 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

And you've missed the point entirely, but that's okay

[–]Frosty-Gate-8094 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

I got your point very well.
You meant that a woman soldier is going to be a weakling in the frontline... (A concept exemplified in the movie '300')...

You are neglecting the fact that women are already allowed in the military. Draft or no draft, you will have to fight alongside women soldiers anyways.

So my point still stands, its too late to discuss whether women should be in military or not.
They already are in the military.

The question now is whether they should be drafted during an emergency.
That's equal responsibility. And I dont think women should shy away from equal responsibilities too.

[–]ohmygoshimdrowning 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No, you're still missing it.

[–]Frosty-Gate-8094 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ok.. Please explain... I am listening..

[–]Banake 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

think about a 19yo girl in this day and age. Would you feel safe with her next to you?

Irrelevant, many 19 years old boys probably wouldn't be prepared for war.

[–]ohmygoshimdrowning 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

19yo boys have been fighting in wars for thousands of years

[–]Banake 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

And do you really think that all of them were good soldiers?

[–]ohmygoshimdrowning 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Alot better than a girl would have been

[–]Banake 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You would still have to separete the ones who would than the ones who wouldn't, and you could use the same system on girls. Even if this would mean less women in the military, it would be fairer than a male only draft. And as a question of principle, I am against a male only draft (this is just the goverment saying that some citizens have a duty while others don't based uniquely on gender.)

[–]Banake 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you really want to go there, I guess that you could say that the army should have a way to separate the ones who would be good soldiers for the ones who wouldn't, but the same system could be used to separete the 18 years old girls who would be good soldiers from the ones who wouldn't, so your argument would still fail.

[–]DirtyPartyMan 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Wait…you Don’t want equality now?

[–]disayle32 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Tradcons have never been about true gender equality. Ever.

[–]disayle32 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Tradcons gonna tradcon.

[–]SolarEngine89 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well. Draft is kinda discrimination.

Buuuut. Army was a male space for a long time. Where else can guys run away from feminists now?

Sarcasm. Kind of.

[–]usku 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The problem is more convoluted.

Can you imagine the public reaction if an all female military unit got captured and raped up by ISIS?

Granted nobody cares when it happens to me and that is shit.

But heaven forbid it happen to female troops. I have no issues with either women serving or a coed draft.

Russia, Israel, they both have excellent track records of women in the forces being very successful.

Conservatives are just squawking because girls aren’t as good as boys on average. Strength, stamina, etc.

[–]ohmygoshimdrowning 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Trained men in military: competent at their jobs

Trained women in the military: ok and mostly competent enough to do their jobs. Typically not infantry anyhow.

Untrained men in draft: not necessarily competent, but capable of doing what needs to be done.

Untrained women in draft: cowering in the corner allowing people to very easily kill you.

Only one of these 4 groups of people is a massive liability to the safety of everyone. I understand the sentiment of "you reap what you sow" when it comes to feminism, but men shouldn't have to pay with their lives in times of war to stick it to the feminists.

[–]Banake 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, The Federalist is low. Even for conservative magazines standarts.
