I think that acceptance is a lot more widespread than people realize, it's just one of those silent majority kinds of deals.

I hate to sound like a feminist, but I think that the rejection the legitimacy of mens' rights mostly exists at an institutional level, primarily due to the entrenched feminist agenda of rejecting mens' rights as misogynistic.

I think sensible people are receptive to the fact that men have problems that are not handled. That said, sensible people tend to be more concerned with managing their own lives rather becoming moral busybodies who take to the streets and shout from the rooftops. There's nothing wrong with that-there are issues and injustices, but the status quo is fair enough that it works more often than not over a person's lifetime (not to imply it is actually "fair enough". I mean that we aren't doing shit like tossing gays off rooftops). Personally, I only get as involved as reddit. I'm not really in an area where any interesting activism takes place and I have other priorities 50 hours of the week.

That said, there is another obstacle that keeps people silent, and that's the silent hysteria of political correctness. There's all the ranting and raving that goes on online, but then there are all of the things that DON'T happen because of overbearing institutional political correctness.

People know that feminists will try to get people fired from their jobs for openly opposing feminism. If you are openly an MRA and the wrong person stumbles accross your profile, it's a liability. If you go to an event, you could wind up on the clickbait news in a snapshot that claims you are an alt right misogynist when you just want to balance the divorce courts.

People often criticize the MRM for just being a bunch of people bitching about feminism and PC culture, but the feminists are the people creating threats against associating more openly and freely. Without an active feminist agenda calling shots in so many institutions, it would be as simple as demanding change ad nauseam and maybe looking a bit silly-like a typical tree hugger. With feminists and their rampant misappropriations of institutional powers to promote the narrative, you'll be maligned as a pariah in pretty much any corporate workplace, most mainstream media outlets, much of academia, and many other social institutions and organizations you may belong to. You don't just risk wasting time and effort, you might lose everything you've ever worked for.

I think mens' rights has approval but lacks support-but I think support is an inevitability in the long run. The big question is what the driving force will be, because everything kind of seems to be converging in a direction where something will have to change. Feminism is basically a meme at this point, though one that is going out of style at a relatively glacial rate. Statistics and facts are penetrating areas that were formerly bastions of the narrative. Allegedly higher numbers of women are hitting their 30s without ever having any semblance of a committed relationship, ossifying a stereotype of entitled women who treat men like shit and become repulsive washed up has-beens when the party is over. Feminism is no longer good for business-media outlets fold, films and music flop, and stock values drop if they espouse overtly feminist agendas. The technology is constantly eroding at the old mainstream established forms of media, education, entertainment, and even employment. People who once wielded feminism now find themselves on the defensive as scandals and hypocrisy are exposed weekly. I kind of doubt this one, but if the draft were enacted in a major conflict, it would disrupt the "fair enough" status quo that people don't stand up to question.

Basically, I think where we really are is a waiting game as the information takes time to reach people who have other priorities and the myopic decisions and moral compromises made by feminists for quick popularity start to return long term consequences to their legitimacy.

It may sound optimistic, but I kind of expect the MRM to be moving on rails by 2020. I think that priorities should probably shift towards making sure that when it becomes popular, it isn't just feminism with a different flavor. Ethics need to be drawn, there may need to be a goal that doesn't needlessly expand and perpetuate itself indefinitely, apologia and tolerance for radicals and chauvinists needs to be controlled, there needs to be a plan to prevent the likes of communists and fascists from annexing the cause, etc. But I've digressed.

tl;dr: people seem to agree with the MRM, I think it just needs a little more time to revolve into the public consciousness.

I took a 2 year break from Facebook, because I was involved with some MRA/egalitarian groups and various "friends" (aka customers or remote acquaintances who'd pestered me into friending them) kept private messaging me, calling me out for having "internalized misogyny".

I recently started posting/commenting again, and although I'm mostly sticking to sharing nerdy memes or Marvel movie quotes, I have been seeing a lot more openness in discussing men's issues. Sure, they're still uncommon, but I shared a male centered anti-suicide post yesterday and out of 12 comments, not a single one was nasty or telling me "women commit suicide too!!!". I hope this means it's becoming easier to get people to admit men need help too, and Feminism isn't the way.

A Facebook page that posts very left-wing stuff posted some posts supporting men's rights. Lots of people announced they were un-subscribing the page. The page posted more men's issues.

I appreciate the attempt to go positive but the fact is going negative works like ten times better.

people are more conscious of double standards

READ: more conscious of feminist hypocrisy

and anti-male bias

READ: feminist sexism and hate of men

Getting people to see feminism as negative is pushing on an open door. Getting people to positively embrace rights for men is very hard.
