Don't assume that I assume that genders are assumedly a thing or not a thing, but sometimes they are not or are fluid....assuming that they do or don't exist. Damn its a confusing world.

Men's. It's always men's. Even if there are no men around, there once WERE men around, and it's their filthy legacy that corrupted whoever did it by proxy.

So we're doing 4chan level shitposting now?
[–]Talbooth 9 points10 points11 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Agreed, this is good for some meme subreddits but mensrights is a bit more serious.

Yep. And while I agree with the thought behind the post, is their belief that gender isn’t a thing or that there is 47+ genders? That’s a serious question because I don’t know anymore.

Biological sex is a thing.
Certain personality traits are more present in each biological sex.
Gender is a spectrum and much like how intersectionality is bullshit - in so much as everyone can be boiled down to an individual if you follow where they diverge from each 'group identity' - it is pointless trying to define genders where one diverges from another.
Another way to think of it... I am diagnosed with Asperger's, which is an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Despite other people also having a diagnosis of Asperger's, their experience of Autism won't be the same as mine - they will undoubtedly have different triggers etc etc.
But for the sake of language and ease of reference we can both be considered to have Asperger's because we share more traits than we don't.
So they are sort of right when they say there are an infinite number of genders - what they are really saying when they say 'gender doesn't exist'... Because each person is an individual on that sliding scale.
However, biological sex does infer certain personality traits on average - which we can safely call masculine and feminine - much like you have to display certain behaviours to be diagnosed with Asperger's - despite being different individuals.
This the key step they get wrong.
Hope that makes sense.

Interesting, thanks for that comparison. I hadn’t thought of it that way before. I am one of the people who believe sex is biological and that that means someone is either a boy or a girl, (for the most part) I don’t necessarily agree with some people that they get to decide their sex. I guess I’m old fashioned or wrong that sex and gender are the same thing but personally, none of it really affects how I treat people so I don’t really give it a lot of thought.

But gender does exist?

It's called throwing their own insanity back in their face.

I guess that all depends on whether gender identifies as existing. Maybe it's existencefluid?
