In fairness, the vast majority of tubal ligation is done at the same time as a C-Section.

I don't think this is a gender equality issue so much as it's a cost issue. Vasectomies are relatively cheap ($500-1000), whereas a tubal ligation can be upwards of $6000. Modern vasectomies use a no-scalpel method that takes just ten minutes and results in no bleeding. Tubal ligations are more invasive and more complicated, so they are something insurance would be more inclined to cover.

As part of the ACA all healthcare policies must cover female contraception with no deductible. It does not cover male contraception, so insurance policies require a deductible just like any other procedure. Is this female privilege because their care is free and men have to pay? Yes. Is it sexism against poor women because a poor couple will likely choose to have the woman undergo a far riskier procedure with a longer recovery rather than pay $1k for the safer/simpler procedure on the man? Yes. But why would feminist lobbyists make men or poor women a priority?
