I am on mobile and can't block out the name of the woman so I will just post the status she put up.

"One of my biggest pet peeves is seeing a bus full of women standing, all while several men are hogging a seat right beside them. To the mamas who are training your boys to be real gentlemen, the women with 10 pound book bags on a shaky bus thank you! To the men who actually do their chivalrous duty, keep being an example to these little boys. I feel like I should get up and give one of these ladies my seat... but I'm guessing that would kind of defeat the purpose."

See I'll admit that on this sub I see a lot of things I agree with you guys on, and at the same time I see some things that I feel we are looking for a problem in something that has no problem.

But in the above status, things just didn't sit well with me. The biggest being 1. Gender equality in the sense of. If we are equal at work, then we are equal on the bus. It is not required to give up your seat for the elderly, women, kids, disabled. But it is considered the nice thing to do if you are an able bodied person.

I don't think gender is what people should look at when offering their seat, I think it should be "does the person standing look like it could give them a hard time? Well I would be fine standing up so I'll offer my seat"

The woman who posted the status is An incredibly attractive young woman who is very active. An easy candidate as someone who could give up their seat.

So why didn't she?

It doesn't defeat the purpose like she states, it promotes the purpose. The purpose is to help others out in a scenario where they could use it.

I don't believe it's a duty for men. I got buddies who can't stand longer than 15 minutes at a time because they were airborne and they destroyed their knees jumping from air planes.

Should he be required to stand up for an female college student who got on a full bus?

He probably will, but it's not his duty. You don't earn the right to sit. It's public transportation.
