I missed a lot of my children's early childhood due to working so much which I regret the fuck out of because realistically I could have done better.

I'm in my late 40's and subscribed to that old belief that we shouldn't take time off for sickness/personal reasons. I missed ultrasounds, days at the park, so many things. Left a lot to their mum who did a fantastic job, but at a cost.

Then COVID rolled up and everything changed. Taking time off was normalised. I took time off and the universe didn't explode.

This time around, with a new baby, I decided to change that and now do whatever I can to be part of everything. I attend all appointments and work less weekends so I can be with the family.

Do whatever you can to spend time with the kids. You never get the time back, and let's face it, nothing we do at work really matters compared to seeing your children laugh and play. It is also more fair to their mother.

4/20 work weeks.

four days of work, five hours per day every week. with the norm being a 40 hour work week between a standard couple, e.g. men and women each work part time to amount to a household 40 hour work week.

this provides everyone with the plausibility of having a good familial and work life, and also offers the opportunity for variations, as in, one parent works 40 outside the home, the other none, of a 30/10 split, or even the single parent working 40 hours and making it.

we already know this can work, as the total work hours, 40 per household, has been tested en masse with the single income household. just average it out.

household duties are likewise split relative to the split of labor outside the home.

According to capital owners if people do not spend majority of time at work, whole society is going to collapse.

At the same time rich are getting richer faster than ever before and everyone else poorer
