This post title is ridiculous. The story is that a bunch of Google employees protested over a recent NYT article claiming that Google covered up sexual misconduct claims against three executives. The protesters included both men and women, as the article mentions and as you can see in this photo. It was a one-time thing. It had/has nothing to do with pay inequality, real or imagined. Google engineers work flex time; they're allowed to leave their desks as they please for the most part. There are always engineers on call to deal with crises.

Employees at Google offices around the world held a wave of walkouts on Thursday to protest the company’s handling of sexual harassment.

The walkouts, which started in Asia and spread across continents, were planned for around 11 a.m. in their time zones. Protests were held through the day in Google offices in the United States.

The backlash was prompted by an article in The New York Times last week that revealed that Google had paid millions of dollars in exit packages to male executives accused of harassment, while staying silent about the transgressions.

Employees posted photos on social media, but it was unclear how long the protests lasted as many of those who stopped working stayed inside the buildings.

This is not a women's walkout, it's a worker walkout, and a temporary one. Perhaps during the lunch break.
