But that's not what I'm talking about.

There's some controversy over whether feminism was ever about equality, or if it was about supremacy from the very beginning, or if there are some feminists who live up to the ideals - whatever. Makes no difference really. Let's agree, for the time it takes you to read this post, that most feminists today are Like That, and some aren't.

Feminism is basically dead. It's reached its end, at least in Western society, and even in developing nations it has a definite endpoint which it will inevitably reach. What remains is incapable of generating new life. Do you realize this?

The point of feminism (I mean the idealistic feminism, the equity feminism, the only feminism with any kind of moral high ground at all) was to remove the limits from gender roles while identifying the institutions that grant power and privilege and either destroying them or democratizing them. And feminists did that... for women. And they only did it for women because they had patriarchy as their model for society, so they saw this one-sided gender balance (I know you know this already, I'm just establishing context).

During the 70s and 80s, back when political lesbians and other radicals were telling housewives they were gender traitors and Warren Farrell was realizing that NOW only cared about women, feminism had the opportunity to take the difficult path and start addressing male gender roles, misandry, and female privilege. But feminism needed women to fill its ranks, and women didn't want their privilege removed and their speech policed. Women wanted to Have It All: the business suit, the Malibu dream house, the pink oven, the cute daughters, the corvette, the skiing trip, the accessory husband (sold separately). Feminist leaders, forced to choose between popular condemnation and expanding influence in media, academia and government, and all the funding that went with it, shrewdly sold feminism out.

But where does feminism go from here? Female supremacy feminism has no moral high ground, and is actually rather unpopular due to its blatant sexism, hostility, and distance from reality. Feminism's brand and message is so tarnished that most men want nothing to do with it in any form, which means it still can't recruit members willing to address men's issues, misandry, and female privilege. (I don't need to remind you that the feminists who think they're addressing these things are getting it all wrong.)

The only people left to continue the work they started, aside from a handful of Paglia-esque weirdos, are... us. We can challenge what feminism can't.

I've always said that antifeminism was a necessary part of the MRM. I still think that. But the more I think about feminism the more I think there is a proper perspective to have on antifeminism. Realize that the thing you're fighting is a corpse. Realize that feminism will diminish. Realize when you're arguing with a feminist that you don't need to convince them or win their approval, and realize that the third party you're hoping to convince doesn't actually need to have a feminist there for you to argue with before you can state your case.

Too many concern trolls have told us that we need to stop fighting with feminism to attract supporters, and too many naive dumbasses have told us to try to team up with feminism. Fuck that. But they might have been halfway right. If feminism is dead, if the outcome of that fight is predetermined, what's the smart way to invest our time, energy, and money? Fighting? Or building?
