Gender pay gap statistics seems to highlight total earnings of men and women. Wage or pay is done by an employer and is controlled by the employer for a particular job. But earnings is the payment towards an employee's work input (quality and quantity). It is totally controlled by the employee's effort.

But still the title of the study says gender pay gap not gender earnings gap.
