The "easy to clean "argument is not valid. It is very easy for a baby/ boy/ mans uncircumcised penis to be kept clean and hygienic. The foreskin is designed to be retracted . As a normal part of personal hygiene , guys retract the foreskin and wash their penis , rinse and pull the foreskin back over the head of the penis. 30 seconds in the shower. Parents need to teach their sons how to do this so it becomes a habit for life.

Except for some medical emergency /reason their just isn't a reason to surgically remove a perfectly normal and healthy part of a mans penis.

It's wrong in principal - the outright disregard for male autonomy - simply denying men from being allowed to live intact is wrong in that it denies men the right to their own body. It's society's way of saying "it doesn't matter whether or not it's impactful, you don't deserve the ability to choose anyway, because you are male". It is reduction to subhumanism.

it's.. wildly revolting that anybody would be spineless enough to accept such a form of treatment. A man with indifference towards circumcision being legal may as well have a facial tattoo that reads "Whipped"

From my education, it sounds like early trauma, including physical, can have a negative impact on the brain. So by all means, proper numbing for the procedure is a must! Also, there seems to be some misinformation on the cleanliness of an uncircumcised penis; the cutting of healthy tissue hasn't shown any major benefits, cleanliness included.

For me, it would be the overarching theme of autonomy without meaningful benefit. For example, if a parent had a child's arm amputated for medical reasons, there would be an understanding that it was in the child's best interest. Here, it seems to be more cosmetic/religious than to the actual benefit of the child. In that regard, I could understand being upset.

“There are immediate risks to circumcision such as bleeding, infection and penile injury, as well as complications recognized later that may include buried penis, meatal stenosis, skin bridges, chordee and poor cosmetic appearance. Some of these complications may require surgical correction.”

“The risks and disadvantages of circumcision are encountered early whereas the advantages and benefits are prospective.”

In addition to the medical perspective above there is also prominent issues from a gender equality and human rights perspective.

Neonate rates where I am from were at one time 95% and now they are in the vicinity of 5%.

Basically if you circumcise your son here he will statistically be the only one circumcised in his class. So when you try to use the excuse of it being cleaner your son will likely be left wondering why that is not relevant to “all” other boys.

The fact you got cut and didn't have anything wrong with it or you like it isn't an argument I know someone who's cut and he absolutely hates it. The thing is you cannot consent and it's irreversible the anesthesia doesn't remove all the pain and many times they do it even without anesthesia (look at turkey). You lose most the sensitivity and the pain affects the brain. The worst one is you can't consent

As for downsides, there are two ways to approach this.

First, the standard to intervene on someone else's body is medical necessity.

The Canadian Paediatrics Society puts it well:

Neonatal circumcision is a contentious issue in Canada. The procedure often raises ethical and legal considerations, in part because it has lifelong consequences and is performed on a child who cannot give consent. Infants need a substitute decision maker – usually their parents – to act in their best interests. Yet the authority of substitute decision makers is not absolute. In most jurisdictions, authority is limited only to interventions deemed to be medically necessary. In cases in which medical necessity is not established or a proposed treatment is based on personal preference, interventions should be deferred until the individual concerned is able to make their own choices. With newborn circumcision, medical necessity has not been clearly established.

To override someone's body autonomy rights the standard is medical necessity. Without necessity the decision goes to the patient themself, later in life. It is not about downsides or the false claims about hygiene, it is about medical necessity.

What’s wrong with it is that no one has the right to slice off a piece of another person without consent of that person or absolute medical necessity in the case of a person who cannot legally consent.

Because it can permanently scar the tissue and nerve cells. Not to mention that the foreskin is there so cleaning isn't needed as often. You're literally ripping off a very sensitive piece of skin with little to no anesthetic so it has to be cleaned more.

Cleaning argument,...... you know women labia has folds that collect dirt(I can post a picture of you want).

What do think women do ?

They cut them after births or they clean with soap?

In 2010 we ask about using soap when washing your body.

Circumcised men have never seen a retractile foreskin before.They think is glued to the head permanently.

One of the main problems(along with other psychological,ethical,human rights,aso), with circumcision is that it reduces sexual pleasure drastically.

Historically due to religious purposes was done to reduce masturbation for boys.

God was "upset" if men took pleasure on themselves instead of worshiping God.
