I just saw a trailer to a new HBO series called gentleman jack. My first thought was ok here we go another show about a woman proving that women are as good as a men by dressing and acting like a stereotypical man. My second thought was is that really what feminism is about? is it just women trying to prove they can be men too?? Is it just me or are these so called female empowerment movies/shows just about women who act/dress as men and show everyone that what it means to be a strong woman, is to be a man?? I feel like the message of a powerful or empowered woman would hit harder to both men and women if these shows/movies would show women being exactly that, women. What is so wrong about a woman being great at what women are great at and succeeding in roles where they are the best woman not the woman who acts like a man the best. Women are strong and a powerful force to recon with but there is no doubt a difference in what makes each gender uniquely suited to succeed in the world. Feminist should stop trying to pollute their own gender by butching it up. It would never happen or be allowed the other way around. Mens rights isn’t about men wanting the right to be or act like women its about men being men, and celebrating that difference. Women would be outraged to see a show about a straight man who is better at being a woman than women, especially if it insinuated the reason for him being better is because as a man he can use his man skills to out smart/out perform all the women.
