I‘ve been thinking about my role as a man in this wild society probably for my entire life.

These are my 10 commandments that gave my life meaning and really cleaned up my head:

  1. “You become a man not through hardness, but through what you dare to heal.” Manhood arises when you recognize your own wounds and find the courage not to pass them on, but to seek their healing.
  2. “The strength of a man lies in his ability to show weakness.” Masculinity is not about hiding pain but about the willingness to be vulnerable—and finding new strength in that vulnerability.
  3. “Manhood is not a burden you must bear; it is a path you may shape yourself.” The role of a man is not a predetermined path. It is an invitation to find your own expression of strength, care, and love.
  4. “A true man is one who does not fear himself.” True strength is freedom from self-denial. It lies in accepting both the dark and the light sides of your soul, rather than fighting against them.
  5. “In silence, you learn what it means to be a man.” Seek moments of quiet to hear the inner voices that speak softly. Where no struggle is needed, masculinity becomes a quiet experience of simply being.
  6. “You do not need to dominate to find your place—you may belong and fit in.” Manhood is not a competition for the highest place; it is the ability to stand among others without taking up all the space.

  7. “Loving without a mask is the greatest proof of your masculinity.” It is not weakness to open your heart; it is a courageous step toward true love. Masculinity shows itself when you love without armor or facade.

  8. “The world does not shape the man—the man shapes the world through his compassion.” The meaning of being a man lies not in conquering others, but in creating and sustaining, in leading with compassion rather than power.

  9. “Only when you accept yourself will you be free from the weight of manhood.” True freedom and strength come not from fulfilling external ideals, but from embracing yourself, in all your facets.

  10. “The man who knows himself meets the world with gentleness.” Masculinity is the realization that true greatness lies in gentleness. Strength means existing in the world without violence and embracing your own being with humility.
