The professor of law who designed the original legislation for shared parenting (the bit that's being removed now) said this current proposal:

"stripped almost all references which encourage the meaningful involvement of both parents in relation to the child after separation"

The proposed change will take the legislation back to where it was last century - when things were completely one-sided with children treated as the property of the mother. Labor want to go back to that.

Well since i can't update the post. Here is an exposure draft for the proposed laws. That i found after the article.

Further more, the draft has some stuff in it, to ensure the childs right to have a relationship with both of their parents and extended families. Basically if the kid wants to see their dad, the courts will do everything it can to let that happen (baring some safety concerns) there are even provisions that children must have their own lawyer to represet their interests.

The thing is the left and feminists are ultra traditional when it comes to childcare and gender roles. The narrative is simple; men are predators and women and children are the prey.

Feminists want the mother to have absolute and utter control and even though it harms women in business e.g. pay and promotions, feminists then want forced quotas and promotion targets for women to counteract this problem. This allows women to maintain power in family and have forced equity or more elsewhere.

Well it sounds good.... and Labor is slightly better than the Libs at delivering for the avg people.... but the experienced sceptic in me says....

I think I'll wait for the details and see how they're implemented...
