Has anyone done a long term study comparing childhood mental stability regarding child rearing? Particularly regarding Boys?

There probably isn’t one because the results, no matter what they’d be, would be very contentious. No researcher would want to put themselves into that crosshair that would end their career.

Also there’s inherent differences in those populations which would be very difficult to remove from the equation. For example, the average single/divorced father is older than the average single/divorced mother. The fathers being older means they are usually more financially stable than mothers, which results in single father homes typically being more stable.

Also, gay couples of either sex will be older and richer than married heterosexual couples, because most gay people have to adopt or get a surrogate. Both of these are expensive processes, which means gay couples will likely be wealthier.

Ideally, if you’re just trying to observe inherent child-rearing abilities and outcomes between the sexes, you’d need to remove these age and wealth factors from the study. Which would likely be very difficult if not impossible to do.

The only studies I have heard of/heard reference of is 2 parents vs 1 parent. 2 parents being the more ideal, regardless of gender. Unsure if it was narrowed down further.

Would be an interesting study

I have shared custody of my children. Me and my ex raise them differently

I also believe I heard somewhere.. the biggest factor seems to be wealth.
