THIS IS EXACTLY THE TYPE OF POST THIS COMMUNITY NEEDS. For those of us concerned about men’s rights being destroyed in court we need to put up our support and money to help men unjustly abused get back their rights and dignity. I'm an attorney and I used to be part of a consortium that represented fathers for a reduced fee. I'm not sure if that's an option in your county. You could also try the State Bar for something like a Modest Means program, which isn't specific to fathers but typically offers legal services at a fraction of the typical cost if you qualify.

You could also politely ask if your attorney could slightly reduce her fees, offer a longer term payment plan, or anything else to ease the burden of the growing legal costs. Best of luck and stay in the fight!

In my state, once custody has been set, there is an automatic blanket no change in custody or domicile for the kids unless there has been a major reason outside of one person's control. If she wants to move out of state by preference, I can't see a judge agreeing to that. Then again the courts are a horrible place.

In my state, if parents cannot agree, one parent or the other can sue for temporary custody.. or, If the parents agree, the judge can sign a consent order which is a legally enforceable agreement. If the custody schedule has been working, and the children are okay, the judge will be inclined to agree to whatever is current. That is supposed to give time for parents to work out a full custody schedule which then can also be entered as a legally binding agreement as a consent order. If the parents can't agree, one or the other can sue for the custody that they want, be it full custody, 50/50, or whatever. And then the judge decides. It sounds like that might be what you're facing. It is a messy and expensive process. I'm sorry that people just can't put their kids first.

Doing this stuff in court is so expensive. You may want to come to agreements yourselves.

Your co-parenting agreement probably has a provision that she needs your written consent to take the kid out of state. Tell her that you expressly deny consent and that if she does you will call the cops and report a kidnapping. Now, the cops won't actually do shit, they'll probably find a reason to arrest you instead (you're the man after all) but if she doesn't know that then you can use the threat as leverage to get what you need.

You should request that in exchange for your permission to take the kid out of state, she has to give you majority custody: 51% or more and she has to pay for flying the kid between Washington and California. Otherwise, tell her that she should start doing tongue exercises because there will be a lot of forced muffdiving in prison.
