I never wanted anything so bad in my life than this gender war madness coming to an end. I lost my long-term relationship partly because of it, it made me question my political beliefs and it's a daily source of frustration. I can't distance myself from it, because I'm a writer and a musician and it's too common in my community to not even question the agenda of modern day feminism or view it from a sociologically perspective.

I lost my long-term relationship partly because of it
We're all ears man. Tell us more.
The place that I work there is a woman who likes me, I like her. The chemistry is there, it's natural, undeniable. It takes more effort for both of us to refrain from striking up a conversation. We make each other laugh. I would pursue relations outside of work, but for one reason. She's a raging third wave feminist.
There's definitely a difference of political opinions there. One of the first things she I ever heard her say to a group of women in the office the first week we knew each other was something to the effect of, "the fight for freedom might look like oppression to those who have been the oppressors". She was glaring at me as I walked by as she said that. It's such condescending bullshit because it's a fast food joint I work part time at to make ends meet. It's not like I'm oppressing anyone or taking advantage of my privilege of the patriarchy. I'm a working class shlub like everyone else there.
She's also married in a polygamous relationship. What's interesting is her husband is in the military deployed to Afghanistan and she's here in the states fucking whoever she wants and worst of all will frequently work without clocking in because, "I don't need the money, my husband's bonus is more than I make here". Speaking of privilege.
Anyway, that's why I will not involve myself with her outside of work. It's a loss, but I have my standards.

Interesting story. Thanks for sharing. In my case it has been a clash of her being more and more involved in the Twitter culture with all those simplified slogans and their outrage culture and me distancing myself from being 100% left-wing for the first time in my life because of hardcore feminism and the gender war. It's not like she completely transformed into a feminist, but we were soulmates at some point and this topic divided us to a certain point. It has been part of fights and discussions we had. And when we finally broke-up it had a lot to do with developing into different directions and me snapping because of it and some other stuff at the end (which is my fault of course).

"I would pursue relations outside of work ... her husband is in the military deployed to Afghanistan"
That's just what I wanted to hear on Veteran's Day; I'm sure glad you have standards.

Hey! Lighten up, do you need help?
[–]K-Dave 17 points18 points19 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Thanks ;) I probably need to stop caring so much about this topic and focus on myself. It's just a stupid comic strip, but still ... it triggers some frustration.
[–]Free_kittens2468 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah man focus on yourself.
[–]KIKUDoll 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah we want the rest of the world to lighten up

If it gives you any hope, I met my gf because of the gender war.
[–]K-Dave 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Sounds weird but interesting ;) Would you like to share your story?

I made an anti-feminist post on Tumblr, and she responded. I read her blog and liked it. We had a weird amount in common. I messaged her, just intending to talk to her. I wasn't intending to start a relationship, especially a long distance one. But we got along really well, and I made a bit of a move to flirt, which was a big deal for me because I'm rarely comfortable with doing that. I still was just trying to be nice. I basically just said I would ask her out if I knew her irl. She took it a lot more seriously, and we decided to try it. We've met twice since then irl, we talk almost every day and night on video, and our first anniversary is coming up. So joke's on you feminists. You brought me together with the innocent, helpless woman I'm currently oppressing. I mean, she just so happens to enjoy guns and knives, and looks a bit boyish, and I love that about her, but yeah I'm totally oppressing her and forcing femininity on her. You know, because she's stupid and helpless.

This isn't even a good point. So what, in this big-balled universe, you expect us to endure excruciating pain and push our legs into our balls in order to preserve some bizzare social decency? What if you had ridiculously big breasts, and we told you to squish them together so we could sit? Would that be fair, or would we be discriminating against your "natural assets" or what the fuck ever?
God these comics are dumb.

I love it. And yet so sad that it had to even be made.

Although this is a good post, its title does not say enough about its subject. This forces people to click and read before they can decide whether they are interested. It also makes searching impossible.
If everyone did this, the subreddit would become unusable.
So please don't do it in future. Take the time to describe your link, and save the time of hundreds of other people.
When making a title, it's best to assume the reader doesn't know what you're talking about - but don't go overboard with every detail. Then check if there are any words you can cut out without losing any important information.

I don't understand the people who feel it's appropriate to spread their legs across three seats tbh. Complain about something relevant.

I don't understand why women think their purse deserves it's own seat. In most cases, they do it intentionally, they just don't want anyone sitting near them.
On an open train side, I'm not sure I have an opinion. When it comes to airline/bus/stadium seating, I've got no where to put my legs. My options are spread or stand. I'm not particularly tall, the seating dimensions are driven by spreadsheet output, not human measurement. But, as usual, women have zero interest when men are negatively affected by things.
It's not my fault my knees don't fit, but make sure to run a multinational ad campaign about what a shit bag I am without bothering to understand the issue.

I think people lie about the size of their balls in relation to their sitting pose options. I ride motorcycle, pedal bikes, horses, kayak, etc. It's never been an issue. I think this is one of the stupidest MRA issues that keeps coming up, even in the mainstream, when there are far more significant issues affecting men. At least when women put purses beside them it's probably because they've been groped before, as annoying as it can seem.

Weirdly, I didn't mention balls, did I?

It an instance of a non-issue that people attack men with. That's the issue.

Always an excuse for women's bad behavior, eh?
[+]MissMulberry1 points 7 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link
It is a somewhat reasonable excuse though, sometimes people can feel really uncomfortable sitting so close to people.
[–]Halafax 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
But having to stand because someone used up a seat with their purse is comfortable? I don't understand what you are trying to say.
[–]Dembalar_Nine 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Do you even have testicles?
[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Are you capable of riding a motorcycle or keeping your legs less than 2 feet apart? MRAs act like this is some superhuman trait. There are plenty of double standards I will agree with you on, it's not an excuse for poor behaviour.
