How to detect manipulation

Manipulation isn't always toxic, if you asked a friend for a favor technically you're leveraging your friendship to get what you want, but no one gets hurt, and if it's reciprocated it's even beneficial. That also acts as a trust excercise, in a way, they go out on a limb for you and you reciprocate. What younger guys get wrong is they don't play this "game" of back and forth correctly, or at all, so women they date get bored and find someone who does play the "game".

9 out of 10 times a "you're too good" or whatever just means someone more "fun" or trustworthy came along when you faltered, and this is more of a self absolution, maybe to save face if you share the same circle, but it isn't for your benefit. It isn't just manipulation at that point, it is potentially a betrayal, depending on the context.

I hate to bring up the RP but it pretty much evolved out of this kind of dynamic and it's been understood for awhile now. It was documented extensively before the censorship campaign and subsequent political circus, and this article doesn't really get into it.

Pretty simple men. Anytime the velvet pink we desire is an option it almost always comes with manipulation and strings unless you actually just pay for it on the table.
