I had a question regarding the draft and the military in general.

Recently, the military has started taking females in. No problem, except the military has started lowering standards (Source: http://www.avoiceformen.com/feminism/feminist-lies-feminism/as-expected-physical-fitness-standards-lowered-and-delayed-again-for-female-us-military-members/) I find a problem with that. This is why I'm unsure about whether or not women should be eligible for the draft as well as men. Anyone want to share their thoughts on this?

firstly, rightsbot should have picked this up.

secondly, wartime doesn't just need soldiers, it needs people doing things to support the war effort, and the draft should be increased to reflect this.

The Marines had the problem that when they tried to institute the pull up as the base exercise for women, even at a lower standard than men women still couldn't do it. USMC had to back out.

My sister is a SSgt (I was a Cpl), she is a rock solid leader and can do quite a few pull ups, but she never really lifts and plateaued at like, 12.

That being said, women aren't falling out of infantry training because of pull ups or lifting weights. Weight lifting and basic strength has very very little to do with infantry training. They mostly fall out because of injuries during humps. Hell that's when most anyone falls out, walking 20 miles with a combat load and switching off carrying a mortar plate or machine gun can really fuck you up. From what I know, less bone density and wider hips compounds that issue for females.

I'm all for them in the infantry, but there can't be a different PT or acceptance standard like there currently is. We had a 4'11" 30 year old female who needed several waivers to enlist at the same time I joined. I met her when I was at my Co-ed Marine Combat Training Course, which is for non-infantry Marines.

Of the approx 15 women, only two passed all of the humps, and over half (8) failed out of the first 5k hump just a few short weeks after boot camp. It was disgraceful to see, but even the ones that failed were allowed to keep going. The 28 year old failed out of the first one, had shin splints and was allowed to complete COMBAT training on light duty, not even participating in movement to contact, squad retreats, patrols, and myriad other tasks that let us not die until the infantry comes in to back us up.

If she went to Iraq/Afg and fell into any combat situation, she would get someone killed. She would be a body we had to protect instead of an asset we could count on. Most of those I encountered were the same.
