I need some help. I am a 26yr old male here in Australia and I got a 40 year old woman pregnant (the mum of a girl my friend was dating) I slept with her once and she said she was on the pill so stupidly I didn't wear a rubber, my fault so I'll deal with the consequences.

She is keeping the child, I raised abortion and adoption and she said no and of course I dont get a say in it, but I can deal with that. It is now past the first trimester and to be honest she is crazy and hard to deal with. I stated my intentions at the start and am willing to do what I have to in terms of child support and all that. I just want to know what all that involves from someone experienced in it. How do my rights as a man come into it for custody, child support, etc. I have a full time job, I earn enough money and I'm usually pretty responsible (not in this scenario of course) Also, I dont trust her, she is on welfare has three kids and I feel she is trying to keep me well out of the loop.

Also how do paternity tests work. I read I will lose about 20% of my gross income which equates to $800 a month. is this reasonable or should I expect them to take out more.
