I keep hoping the link between HPV and male throat cancer will spur further efforts to combat HPV...

... but why do that, when we can replicate the tremendous success of the Reagan era and just tell an at-risk group to choose between having the kind of sex they like to have, or getting a terrible disease? That worked so well.

This video is pathetic. It's not solid public health information. It's not based on epidemiological realities (or he would be extolling the virtues of dental dams, not dismissing them they way that neocons dismissed condoms in the 1980s).

OP, if you are really interested in working on this, maybe you could create some materials that explain the risk in a scientific way, and explain how individuals can protect themselves? Avoiding the use of the term "carousel rider" might be a good first step.

Stage 4 tonsil cancer survivor, got it from HPV. It's fucking horrible, the aftermath is life-changing. I lost most of my sense of taste as well as all my teeth from the radiation. Lost 125 pounds (yeah I was fat), rail skinny now and cannot gain weight. Scarred from my clavicle to my ear losing all facial symmetry. People stare all the time.

All because I had oral sex with a chick when I was 19.

If you want to minimise all exposure and risk, stay indoors in a bubble.

Life is risk. These kind of things just make people look like idiots, unless its an epidemic like the plague or something where a temporary behaviour can allow you to survive it, or something like aids where a minor change such as condoms can radically increase your protection, in an AIDS riddled community.
