Is masculinity toxic? NO Are some people toxic? YES

Actually, it is. Masculinity is a direct result of an increase of testosterone... and elevated levels of testosterone lead to an increased risk of death.

Is masulinity is toxic then femininity must surely be toxic. I think a better question is, are humans toxic?

I don't think masculinity as a whole is toxic, I think the way that as a society we tell boys to be men is toxic. Telling boys that men don't cry, men have to be strong, etc. is very damaging to the psyche of a young boy. I was lucky enough to grow up with parents who encourage me to be myself and to do what I want rather than "TESTOSTERONE! SPORTS! SUPPRESS EMOTION!" (not to imply that there is something inherently wrong with aggressive personalities or liking sports, just some stereotypes) and I think that has helped me be secure in my masculinity. A great example of this is when I joined choir, something that definitely altered the way people view me as it's considered traditionally not masculine (one of my guy friends was even laughed at some people when they found out he was in choir) but I'm not bothered by those views of other people.

The biggest problem I'd say is we have two extremes, the previously mentioned masculinity stereotype of suppressing emotion, being athletic, etc. and then on the other end of the spectrum we have "masculinity is evil, men are evil" etc. and both extremes are very damaging.

I don't think it's toxic to tell someone they should be in control of themselves. That's just a basic lesson in how to be an adult. The problem is that society has a significant double standard built here; men must be the breadwinner, attractive, athletic, tough, etc. But if he's those things he's also perpetuating a system that oppresses women. So the main issue with pointing out "toxic masculinity" like the author of this piece is saying, is that there's no tenable solution. People want strong men in their lives. That's just a fact. But they also want to be victims because that removes their responsibility to be adults in today's world. Our young boys are growing up with zero options to be able to love themselves and be secure in who they are without proving to the rest of the world they aren't rapists or abusers simply because they were born with a penis. That's wrong. As to your point on extremism, the extremist agenda of feminism is the norm. That's why the MRM is so necessary.

I disagree and say the biggest problem is that boys do not have any male role models and the men are discouraged from BEING men, because to be a man is "toxic."

So, instead of learning to work hard, be rational, not let emotions run our lives, exercise, and be responsible, we have a society encouraging "men" to dress in lacy rompers, cry to their therapist every week, and "emote" to virtue signal and white knight their female "friends"--not to mention doping them up on drugs as boys so they act more like girls.

I'd argue the tables have turned completely and that being traditionally "masculine" is now completely discouraged and frowned upon.
