It is exam season at the University of Kent and students are longing for the academic year to be over. Many are flitting between revision and the exam halls on their 1960s campus. Others are sprawled on the lawns, poring over laptops and books, with Canterbury cathedral visible in the distance.

Call me paranoid if you want, but do you guys remember events like the 'Women's march' and so on? For those who don't or are perhaps new, I predict there is potentially going to be a slew of brigaders posting here. What's my basis for this? They're bored university students who will have literally nothing better to do than to screw with various places online and will cause havoc, I guarantee it.

Very often at big protest events especially those you see organised by these deranged left wingers you'll find that they're actually often very bored and tend to strike all at once. I first observed this behaviour originally before discovering gamergate etc. and it was actually when Jeremy Clarkson did his 'we must be neutral because of the BBC' and say "I hope that they get shot in front of their families" in regards to strikers.

Now it happened to be bad timing for him because they all struck at once, completely taking his quote out of context to the point they even edited out the laughter of the studio in the original footage because they all found it funny. Since Jeremy Clarkson had the wrong beliefs though, that didn't matter it was out of context, they went for him anyway, this could very easily end up happening to people here, don't fall for the bait by getting wound up by their slander. It's easily done because of how much of it they post but it's important to keep your cool.

Now it could be that we're lucky and nothing like this happens to the sub or I could be wrong and maybe they'll decide on a different target. However you have to bear in mind this article is actually completely in line with my predictions about university students so far. This generation of them are going to be coming out of university and finally, finally getting a smack in the face by the real world but they will likely lash out like crazy when they discover they can't get their way by stamping their feet and throwing a protest.

Brexit will be a part of this tantrum throwing contest but I suspect like with the women's march the movement will completely splinter within a couple of months and they'll break off forming into protest groups of their own and no one will have any idea what the fuck is going on.

When this does happen, here's what you should do:

. Don't engage them if they spam a thread, sometimes the best solution is to log off and do absolutely nothing. Just like the children they are they'll screech about everybody here being misogynistic and anti-women for a few hours perhaps even a couple of days now they have the time for it and then they'll go away if nobody responds to them.

. If you do engage them in debate, be calm and don't let them piss you off, brigading is just worse than low effort trolling. I have respect for trolls because at least they're trying to pull an amusing prank but brigaders are just there to spam slander, trolls are just harmless pranksters. If anyone new doesn't know what the hell I'm on about check out some older highly upvoted posts, it's always filled with morons trying to make all sorts of accusations towards MRAs and the sub generally with zero proof. If you encounter one of these people and they're dumb enough to respond to you fairly normally you can sometimes isolate them and make them look pretty idiotic if you're good at keeping calm in debate, they rely on numbers in order to intimidate and aggravate people

It's pretty simple to deal with brigaders in the end and if they get extremely spammy and just keep repeating themselves just let the mods handle it. Anyway hope that helps people with situations involving brigaders generally.

While the wiki is generally correct about the definition of brigading, brigading also applies to mass posting, again, for newbies, think of all the 4chan pranks out there that have been done. Most of them involve these sorts of tactics though they're usually pretty harmless, left wingers however are often made up of university students who understand social media, while they're generally useless at anything else they are perfectly capable of organising into mobs and annoying a lot of people.
