I think there is an argument to be made that one reason identity studies departments in universities came into existence with so little resistance is because they held the potential to Balkanize the left so much.

After all, one of the most ridiculous shortcomings of the SJW idiocy is that they downplay the importance of socioeconomic class, as if sexual orientation is a bigger disadvantage than poverty.

I think Leftypol might be taking the rejection of indentity politics perhaps too far, did not think I would say that, but having read alot of the stuff on the site, yeah, sometimes a group has a reasonable issue.

My problem with identity politics is when it gets take to stupid levels, mostly driven by Feminism, but things like Gay marriage and civil rights were and are important. I object to the current PC extremism, but I don't support using a rejection of PCness as an excuse to go 100% in the opposite nasty direction.

They're right about some stuff, they just seem to take things too far for me.

I totally get why some MRAs hate socialism. Most socialists nowadays are feminists ... but socialism doesn't need to be that way. Have we forgotten that George Orwell and Ernest Belfort Bax were socialists?

Many people in the manosphere are currently putting their faith in Donald Trump despite his many flaws. Leftypol probably won't take off for quite a while ... but it will have a chance if Trump loses.

Bax and Orwell saw that the far-left was decaying. They tried to stop this decay and failed. Most people have forgotten their struggle. I have not.

Well, as a leftist MRA, driving a wedge between socialism and feminism is an easy sell to me - but we need to temper our enthusiasm for other issues with the reality that men's rights is small, and we don't want to alienate any of our best supporters by unnecessarily tying ourselves to controversial, unrelated causes.

To me, feminism is an unnatural growth on the left wing of politics - something that clashes with the rest of the left, borrowing most of its fundamental attitudes and tactics from orthodox social conservatism like the religious right. Pro-censorship, pro-shaming tactics, terrified of sex and paranoid of sex crimes, stereotyping entire demographics of people as perverted or violent or scary - to me, this is stuff that sounds more natural coming from figures like Jerry Falwell or Pat Robertson than the wing that brought us free love, the Civil Rights movement, et cetera.

So, ideologically, I'm with you. Practically, I'm not. Frankly, show me someone who agrees with me on socialism but is a feminist, and show me someone else who's as conservative as a conservative could be but understands men's rights, and I consider the latter person a far more important ally for modern issues than the former.

TL;DR: Personally, I love it. Realistically, it's extremely important that we don't fracture the MRM with unnecessary polarizing distraction issues.

Yeah that all makes sense. Feminists are a cancer on the Left. A imperialist government sponsored 5th column. Gloria Steinem for example, literally worked for the CIA. There are released government documents that talk about how the women's movement can be used to break up the left dating from the mid 20th century.

I've noticed a few articles even before the Bernie campaign, on such sites as Jacobin and Counterpunch daring to take issue with feminism. Baby steps. They are terrified of the feminists of course.
