My main question is, how much do you trust this? A 'friend' told you something and supposedly a doc has said something, but have you spoken to the girl, or were you there at the appointment? From my experiences in high school this all sounds like shit stirring. (Not that you shouldn't be taking this seriously, but still)

From my POV, just the fact that the doc said she's 'likely' to be pregnant is sus. Make an appt together and ask for a blood test to confirm or deny once and for all.

I also have to add that 16 and 18 could potentially be a problem. Are you more or less than 2 years older? Like 16.5 and 18 or 16 and 18.6? State laws differ and are confusing and in this case the doc has a lot of discretion about reporting to DHS or not. (So going to an appt with the girl and making a good impression could be important).

From what I understand about Australian law when it comes to pregnancy, parental rights, payments. You're country is pretty much like the rest out there.

So it'll be up to her regarding whether she has the child, gives it up for adoption, has you listed as the father on the birth certificate etc.

So unfortunately I don't think you have much in the way of options. Maybe other Aussies will chime in for you.

Okay, here's what you need to do: First, you need to talk to her to make sure she's actually pregnant, and it's not just one of your mates taking the piss to fuck with you. Second, you need to find out whether she's planning on keeping it, giving it up for adoption, or having an abortion. If she's keeping it, then once it's born, you need to get a paternity test done to make sure you're actually the father, before you start treating the child like it's yours. Otherwise, you can be done for child support even if it isn't.
